BWLAW,
You're barking up the wrong tree with your question. No one here, with some obvious exceptions, is going to tell you they don't like the bike (we've got 'em, and we think enough of 'em to dedicate non-riding time to this forum). Come to think of it, the only affirmative answer you'll get to your question has got to be posted by someone who is maliciously monitoring the forum anyway (which makes the validity of their answer suspect in the first place).
The bike has quirks. It also only has one cylinder (which means that problems only affecting 50% of another bikes engine are catastrophic). It sounds like you have a suspected lemon (your bike- and I stress YOUR- I don't believe the Savage is alemon in general), and a definite lemon (your dealer/mechanic). Trade him in for a new one and see if the supected lemon improves. And let the dealer know why you're going elsewhere. It's called the SERVICE industry fer crissakes!!!!!
Imagine anyone with the balls to say "Well, here comes that crappy product we make (and I've "fixed") again, what's wrong with it now?"!!!!!
